SOUND THERAPY MEDITATIONS 
 

Sound therapy has been practiced for over 5,000 years in ancient Eastern cultures. Western cultures are slowly awakening to this complementary therapy; acknowledging the power of the vibrational energy frequencies created within sound benefiting health and wellbeing.

Sound Therapy is a gentle, complementary therapy using Tibetan Singing Bowls, Crystal Bowls, Tuning Forks, Gongs and other beautiful musical instruments, encouraging a deep meditative state of physical and mental relaxation, clarity of thought, inspiration, emotional calmness and peace. 

One to one treatments and group sound meditations are part of your retreat.

Our gently healing therapy lasts with you well after the treatment ends.

All you have to do is simply lie down, get comfortable and let the soothing sounds bathe your body, spirit and mind.

According to The International Sound Healing Academy, "Healing with Tibetan Singing Bowls is a scientific & proven modality and has been accepted with tremendous approval in Europe, Orient and United States in the last 2-3 decades and is becoming the forerunner of sound therapy, worldwide. Tibetan Sound Bowls are placed on the person’s body. The practitioner then tabs on the bowls following specific rhythms. As the bowls vibrate, they send waves of vibration throughout the person’s body, harmonising cells. Beautiful sounds are produced by the Tibetan Bowls, also having a relaxing hypnotic effect on the brain, slowing brain waves and inducing a deep meditative state.

The most basic element of the human being is the cell. The simplest way of communicating with the cells is through vibration. External vibrations cause a sympathetic resonance in the cells. When tapping a singing bowl placed on the body, which consists of more than 70% of water, the sound transmitted causes the cells to resonate. The sound waves spread, as the concentric waves from a stone dropped in a pond, into larger and larger circles through blood, flesh, organs and even bones, relaxing them and at the same time, harmonising and energising them. In this way the more than 100 trillion cells that are the building blocks of the human body are receiving a gentle cell massage.

 

Any sound affects the nervous system which in turn affects every cell in the body. The bowl vibrations are soothing enough to calm the nervous system yet powerful enough to travel deep into the body to penetrate the bones. Vibrations can travel into places you could never touch with your hands, to effect a healing that would be very difficult to recreate otherwise.

 

It is a combination between the sound of the bowl through the ear, over the eardrum and into the brain and the vibration of the bowl through the flesh of the body that causes the harmonising, de-stressing effect of the bowls. The Tibetan Bowl Sound Massage practitioner taps the bowls in certain rhythms creating an entrancing energy.

Mindfulness is the practice of bringing the mind into the present. We allow thoughts to come and go without judgement, following breath and sound into silence to help reduce stress, anxiety and relax the body and mind. In conjunction with meditation we bring sound into our mindful meditations and learn techniques to help us use it in daily routines which restores balance to our hectic lives.
